Latest Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension

February 2011
NICE Hypertension Guideline Update
The draft guideline will be available for public view and for comment by Stakeholders only on 22 February 2011. The draft guideline, scope and other related documentation can be accessed via the following link to the NICE website: http://guidance.nice.org.uk/CG/Wave2/14
Based on a thorough review of data published more recently than the guidelines below (BHS IV), the BHS has collaborated with NICE to amend the recommendations for the pharmacological management of hypertension (June 2006). The algorithm entitled "BHS recommendations for combining blood pressure lowering drugs" has now been superseded by the new model entitled "Choosing drugs for patients newly diagnosed with hypertension" (click here). Please see the NICE/BHS guidelines page for more information (click here).
