How to become a member
British Hypertension Society
Registered Charity No. 287635
The Society is open to hypertension researchers in the United Kingdom and the
Republic of Ireland. It is limited to 250 members and includes clinicians,
nurses, physiologists and other scientists.
The Annual Scientific Meetings are held every September in a University campus
in the U.K. The scientific programme is compiled from refereed abstracts
submitted by members of the Society and accepted abstracts are published after
the meeting (currently in the Journal of Human Hypertension).
The annual subscription fee is currently £50.00. There is also a small
registration fee to attend the annual scientific meeting, the remainder of the
costs being covered by sponsorship.
Applications for membership are considered on an annual basis, at the Annual
Business Meeting held in mid September each year. There are no formal
application forms. A full curriculum vitae including a list of publications,
together with supporting letters from two members of the Society, should be
sent to the Secretary, no later than three months before the Annual Business
Meeting, i.e. by the middle of June.
Applicants will be contacted at the end of September regarding the outcome of
their application.
Nurses Hypertension Association - Enquiries regarding membership of the
Nurses Hypertension Association (NHA) should be addressed to the Secretary
(refer to the
